Troubleshooting
In case the Power
Moller does not turn or transfer load as expected, check the following
criteria to find the cause and solution:
1.
Power
2.
Installation
3.
Operation
4.
Environment
5.
Cautions
1 Power
a)
Is the correct power properly supplied to the Power Moller as rated?
Make sure that the correct voltage is supplied to the Power Moler.
b)
Is a capacitor wired in case 1phase Power Moller is operated?
Mount and wire the capacitor supplied with the Power Moller as standard
accessory.
c)
Is frequency inverter used together with Power Moller rating 380V or higher?
Power
Moller rated 380V or higher should not be used with frequency inverter.
d)
Isn't the power cable disconnected?
Check
the resistance of each lead. Power cable can be disconnected by improper
handling or installation. (See 2-a), and 5)
2 Installation
a)
Is the output shaft of the Power Moller adequately fixed and tightened
by the mounting bracket supplied as standard accessory?
If not, fix the output shaft with the mounting bracket. Idle rotation
of the output shaft may disconnect the power cable, by which the Power
Moller ceases functioning.
b)
Are there adequate gap (clearance) between the conveyor's between frame
length and the Power Moller's total length?
Adequate gap between 2mm and 5mm is needed to ensure the proper operation.
c)
Is the level of the Power Moller in the same or slightly higher than the
level of idler rollers?
If
not, adjust the level of the Power Moller and idler rollers so that the
load weight will be evenly distributed. Poor contact between the conveyed
load and the Power Moller can cause slippage or jam due to the load twisting.
If this is the case, rubber lagging is also recommended to ensure the
contact and proper transfer of the load.
d)
Does the Power Moller along with the associated idler rollers have sufficient
static strength against the weight of the load to be transferred?
Check
the static load limit of the Power Moller referring to the catalog.
If the load weight exceeds the static load limit, the roller may be
deformed to cause malfunction.
3 Operation
a)Is
the Power Moller operated properly?
Minimum contact of each model as stated below should also be observed:

b)
Is The Power Moller subject to stalling or bolck in the accumulation line?
Only
the Power Moller series PM570AU, PM605AU and PMT50AU can be stalled or
blocked.
c)
Is the Power Moller running at expected speed?
If
not, the Power Moller may be overloaded, which causes over heating.
Remove the cause of the overload.
d)
Is the Power Moller subject to external impact?
If
so, such impact loading should be limited to less than 50% of the roller's
static load limit. Excessive impact may damage the reduction gears in
the Power Moller.
4 Environment
a)
Does the unit has appropriate enclosure option to suit the environment?
Use
waterproof (IP 65 enclosure) option for watery environment or line subject
to water wash down, or high degree of clean room.
Use dripproof (IP 55 enclosure) option for dusty, oily and high moisture
environment or lower degree of clean room.
b)
Is the ambient temperature in the range of between - 10 and + 40°C?
Ambient
temperature higher than 40°C has a risk of causing motor overheat.
Specific option with special lubrication grease is needed for the operation
in the ambient temperature lower than -10°C
5 Cautions
Handle the Power
Moller adequately with care during transportation and installation. Do
not drop the unit, or damage the power cable. Special care has to be paid
for the power cable, which is the life line of the Power Moller.
Do not additionally
process the Power Moller (additional rubber lagging, welding on the roller,
power cable extention, etc) which is out of our warranty.
For further questions
on the failed unit, please contact ITOH DENKI and provide the model and
manufacturing number information indicated on the circular label put on
the power cable side of the unit.
